Product Description

Levlen is an oral contraceptive (birth control pill) for women.

How It Works

Levlen is a combination birth control pill that contains the two female hormones estrogen and progestin. Taking this oral contraceptive daily can reduce the risk of pregnancy. Levlen can prevent fertilization of an egg released into the womb. Also, if fertilization does occur in the women, Levlen can prevent the fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall, which will prevent a pregnancy.

Uses

Levlen is an over-the-counter oral contraceptive you can take to reduce the chance of getting pregnant with unprotected sex. Levlen will not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases when having unprotected sex.

Birth control pills such as Levlen are known to have other benefits such as reducing your risk for ovarian cysts, reducing acne, and possibly protecting you against ovarian cancer, anemia and pelvic inflammatory disease.

Dosage

Levlen pills are typically taken once daily. You will get 28 pills in a single pack. Before using, carefully read all instruction provided in the patient information leaflet provided with the pack. This leaflet will give you exact information on how to take Levlen safely and effectively. If any of the provided instructions are unclear, ask your pharmacist or doctor.

Do not take Levlen in any other way than instructed in the patient information leaflet, or as instructed by a doctor.

Swallow your Levlen pills whole with a glass of water if needed. You can take Levlen with a meal if you experience stomach upset.

You should start taking Levlen the first Sunday following your monthly period. If your period starts on a Sunday, take Levlen that day.

Each Levlen pill must be taken 24 hours apart. If you forget a pill, try to take it on the same day. Do not take two Levlen pills at once. Take Levlen the same time each day to help you remember your doses.

Levlen will not be effective if you miss doses. Refer to the patient information leaflet to know what to do when you miss doses.
