This medication is generally taken once or twice daily, by mouth. It is best to take this medication by mouth to avoid stomach upset. The dosage will be determined by a healthcare provider. It will be based on a number of factors such as your medical condition, weight and treatment response.
You must not increase the dosage of this medication without consulting your physician. Consuming more Imuran than recommended will not make your condition better sooner. It will only make you more susceptible to side effects. Also, you must not terminate the treatment abruptly without consulting your physician.
In order to benefit from this medication, you need to use it as regularly as possible. Do not consume this medication on an occasional basis. You must not skip or miss your doses. If you accidently miss your dose, you need to take it as soon as you remember. Do not double your dose in order to compensate for a missed one.
Since this medication can be absorbed through skin, pregnant women must not handle this medication.
During the treatment period, you can experience certain common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and diarrhea. These are common side effects of intestinal problems. If these conditions persist for more than a couple of days, inform your healthcare provider.

It is not at all safe for you to use this medication during the period of pregnancy. Consuming this medication during this period can harm the unborn baby.
This drug not only has the ability to pass on to children via breast milk, but it can affect their health adversely too. Therefore, it is best to avoid this medication during the period of pregnancy.
