All Pharmacists who renewed their licensure in 2006 are being reminded that renewal is due in 2008. All Pharmacists inducted in 2007 are also due to renew their licensure in 2008. Pharmacists should contact any of the Regional/Zonal Office of the Pharmacy Council for this exercise. Re-licensure constitutes being in good standing with the Pharmacy Council.

The Pharmacy Council wishes to inform the general Public, especially Pharmacists and Prospective Pharmacy proprietors that the Council has suspended the processing and issuing of new pharmacy licenses for Central Business Districts in the Accra and Kumasi Metropolis.
This measure is to allow the Council review the state of pharmaceutical activities in these areas with the objective of ensuring quality services and best practices in pharmacy. The areas concerned are as follows:
Accra - that piece of land area situated in Accra Central, and includes adjoining areas bounded on the :
  1. Western side by Kwame Nkrumah Avenue
  2. Southern side by Market street
  3. Eastern side by Kojo Thompson Road and
  4. Northern side by Kinbu Road
Kumasi :
  1. Kejetia
  2. adum
  3. K.O
  4. Bantama

The Pharmacy Council wishes to remind all Registered Pharmaceutical Companies and Licensed Chemical Sellers that it is an offence under the Pharmacy Act 1997(Act 489) to continue to operate their businesses without renewing their certificaes of Registration for 2007.
The validity of licenses is up to the 31st December of every year. All Registered Pharmaceutical Companies and Licensed Chemical Sellers which have not renewed their licenses must do so immediately.
Failure to comply with this directive shall result in the imposition of the necessary regulatory sanctions such as closure of facilities which was began in November 2007.

The 19th Scientific Congress of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP) took place in Banjul, Gambia from the 10th to 16th March 2007. The congress was under the theme “Sustainable Access to Medicines for Diseases of Public Health Concern in the West African Sub-region”.read more
 
 
The Pharmacy Council has donated a quantity of assorted medicines valued at GH¢ 24,500.00 to inmates of the Nsawam medium security prison and the Ho prison in the Eastern and Volta regions respectively.
The donation was in response to appeals made by the prison authorities to individuals and corporate bodies to contribute towards the health needs of the inmates. read more
