FUNCTION
Information Management and Research Department ( IMRED) Is responsible for reviewing, designing, upgrading and documenting Information Management systems for the Pharmacy Council.
It involves the acquisition, organization, control, dissemination and use of information relevant to the effective operation of the organization. It deals with information & data management, Publications, Public relations, Operational Research and any other assigned activities. |

STRUCTURE
THE DEPARTMENT HAS A HEAD – Who reports to the Deputy Registrar.
There are three Schedule Officers, Public Affairs Officers and Pharmacy interns.
There are three units within the Department namely:
- Policy Formulation and Analysis
- Publications
- Research

| ACTIVITIES |
|
INFORMATION AND DATA MANAGEMENT
- Compiles and organize data for documentation
- Ensure ready availability of current, updated and relevant database to support the activities of Council
|

OTHER ASSIGNED ACTIVITIES
- Induction of newly qualified and registered Pharmacists
- Maintaining the Library services of the Council
- Training of staff within the department
- General administrative and assigned duties
|

PUBLICATIONS
- Prepares and publishes periodic reports for the Council, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders (e.g. annual report and secretariat reports of council)
- Prepares working documents for all the relevant committees of Council
- Organizes editorial meetings, edits and publishes the newsletter of the Pharmacy Council – The Regulator (biannual publication)
- PREPARES PAPERS FOR Council’s position on various issues – e.g. Regulation of the distribution of Pharmacies in Ghana

PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Assists in enhancing the public image and positive perception of the Council
- Creates awareness about the activities of the Council – responsible for website development and maintenance, paraphernalia like calendar, Christmas cards etc.

OPERATIONAL RESEARCH
- Initiating, undertaking, monitoring and coordinating operational research – e.g. Supervision and record keeping in Pharmacies.
- Undertakes special inspections as part of information and research
- Ensuring the dissemination of research findings.
